Resume Tips
Five “Golden Key” Tips
1. Focus on accomplishments rather than general responsibilities: remember, an accomplishment has a clear–and hopefully quantified–result.
2. Brand yourself so that your leadership, personality, and top strengths lift of the page to excite the reader.
3. Write your resume to a specific job (or least a specific area of interest) and utilize specific keywords from that position.
4. Design your resume so it is highly scannable by the human eye and by optical character recognition software.
5. Keep your resume dynamic and concise.
Five “Ball and Chain” Mistakes
1. Write your resume when your attitude is “I just need any job.”
2. Use a generic resume template.
3. Forget to proof your resume at least three times over at least three days.
4. Copy a resume style you found in a book or from a friend.
5. List only general responsibilities but not any specific accomplishments.
